Talk by Emilie (Kollektivzentrum Mieze und Solidarität in Aktion)
at the climate strike on Feb 14, 2025It's really nice to see so many people here today!
It shows once again how many people are doing great political work here!
But unfortunately not everything is going
as well as it could be from my point of view: Since I moved to Würzburg, I've spoken to a few people about
the situation in various left activist groups. The results of these conversations were similar in many
respects.
Many groups are small, fragmented and divided. This puts a lot of the work and responsibility on
individuals. People burn out because of these ways of working. Knowledge and resources are lost when people are no
longer active or move away. Instead of our common goals, differences are emphasized. This division is at the expense
of us all. Our political opponents benefit from this!
This must change!
We need sustainable
activism!
We need strong communities and neighborhoods that fight back, support each other and stick
together!
We need shared spaces for exchange and encounters instead of isolation!
We need networking,
cooperation and solidarity to achieve our common goals!
We can only do that together. Look around you. There
may be a person next to you who knows about feminism and technology. Others may know about anti-racism and economics.
Still others know about trauma and psychology. Many things only you have experienced. So I can tell you what it's
like to live as a white woman here in Germany. What I can't know is what it means to have to flee. Every
person's experience and knowledge is equally valuable and indispensable for our common goals.
But without
dialog and encounters, we unfortunately learn nothing about them. Shared exchange, mutual help and solidarity help us
move forward. Therefore: Dare to ask questions! Use your own skills and interests! Network and organize with your
neighbors, friends and colleagues!
This is the motto under which we want to found the
“Solidarität in Aktion” association. We want to connect interested people, support various projects
and create spaces for exchange.
One of these spaces is the Mieze, a collective center in Grombühl. We
are currently working together to make the space future-proof as an open place for groups and individuals. Donations
are needed to keep the Mieze open. We'll be going around with a donation box, and every contribution helps,
regardless of the amount!
So if you would like to join in, support or get to know “Solidarität in
Aktion” or the Mieze, then come to a pub evening every Wednesday evening at 8 pm in the Mieze or talk to us
straight away. Here you can find the links to the websites and social media accounts.
