Speech by Widersetzen

(Demonstrations like this show that the majority of young people stand for solidarity, joy, and dreams. For us, being young means being determined to build a good future for everyone and fighting for an open and solidarity-based society. Fascists and right-wing extremists like the AfD hinder us in this. The AfD youth wing, which until the beginning of this year was the clearly right-wing extremist "Young Alternative," is attempting to re-establish itself in Giessen in November. This is a pathetic attempt to make the fascist group socially acceptable again. But whether the group is called "Young Alternative," "Young Patriots," or something else, it's still the same right-wing extremists who want to continue their inhumane and anti-democratic plans. The AfD youth wing is and remains closely intertwined with other extreme right-wing groups and individuals. They make our queer, refugee, disabled, and left-wing fellow human beings the targets of their hatred. And they attack our neighbors, friends, classmates, and colleagues every day.

For us, it's clear: A new AfD youth group must not be founded.

We cannot rely on existing authorities. The state allows fascism a place within its own ranks; police officers commit violence against us and murder our fellow citizens; even cities like Würzburg allow right-wing extremist events like those organized by the NPD and AfD!

That's why we're taking our lives and our future into our own hands. We are protected by the fact that we all fight the fight against the far-right together.

We at Widersetzen stand for solidarity and cohesion – for a coexistence in which everyone has a place. Regardless of where they were born, who they love, or what they look like!

We are tomorrow. The 'Young Alternative' and its doppelganger are a scarecrow from the last century.

We are organizing against their fascism and their social division.

We ourselves ensure that everyone can live out who they are freely and without fear. So that our society can be a warm home where everyone has a perspective and a voice. In January of this year, we already delayed the AfD party conference by several hours with 15,000 people. On November 29th, we will travel to Giessen with even more people to stop the re-establishment of the AfD youth group. This is our responsibility to ourselves and to people who can't easily attend demonstrations and who are subjected to the hatred of the right-wing. Join us! Our shared future is also in your hands.
